PRISM DEFENSE – Building a Game with Zero Art Assets

I’m incredibly excited to announce the release of our latest project: PRISM DEFENSE
You can play it right now in your browser over on itch.io
When I set out to make this Tower Defense game, I gave myself a strict constraint: Absolutely no imported art. No sprites, no hand-drawn backgrounds, no texture files.
Instead, I wanted to see if I could make a game feel juicy, kinetic, and polished using only code, math, and basic geometric primitives. Every laser beam, expanding AoE pulse, and shattering enemy explosion in Prism Defense is drawn entirely via code in the Godot 4 engine.
A neon game needs a heavy synth soundtrack. I used producer.ai to generate the pulsing background music and crafted the retro, 8-bit sound effects using sfxr.me. The result is an arcade-like atmosphere where the popping of geometric enemies blends right into the beat.
Play it Now The game features endless scaling waves, 4 distinct tower types, and high-score saving. It’s available as an instant-play HTML5 web game, and I’ve also provided a native .apk for Android users who want to take it on the go.
I’d love to know what your highest wave is! Check it out here: itch.io
